A Link to the Past 2 will have a dark world

This is truly Hyrule's darkest timeline.

In a not entirely surprising move the 3DS sequel to the seminal 1991 classic Zelda: A Link to the Past will feature a light and dark world, as its predecessor debuted all those years ago.

This reveal was made in a Cnet interview with longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma who began helming the series in 2000 with Majora's Mask. Dimension swapping has become a common theme in Zelda, even if the dark world itself was limited to A Link to the Past, Four Swords Adventure and Twilight Princess (we're going to consider "twilight" as dark, anyway). Other Zelda games featured similar alternate realities such as Ocarina of Time and Oracle of Ages' time-hopping mechanic or Oracle of Seasons allowing Link to toggle between different climates, altering the level design.

Elsewhere in the interview, Aonuma emphasized the importance of the 3DS's lenticular screen, stating that you're not getting the intended experience if you don't enable the 3D. He also explained that Link's new power to turn into a 2D scribble on the wall was inspired by antagonist Ganon inhabiting paintings in Ocarina of Time, so he thought it would be rad if Link had the same ability.

If you're prone to headaches, I would say that the intended experience is not to play with a throbbing noggin.
