The Sims 4 developer Maxis has confirmed that the game won't include any SimCity-style always-online features.
Producer Grand Rodiek told VG247 that the newly-announced Sims title would be an "offline, client-based game".
There are no plans for a console release, Rodiek added - PC and Mac versions are the only ones currently planned.
Maxis invoked a firestorm of criticism when the always-online SimCity launched earlier this year and servers promptly collapsed.
EA announced The Sims 4 during its Gamescom 2013 press conference yesterday afternoon. It'll include increased emotion control for your Sims and more robust building creation for their houses.
