Splinter Cell: Blacklist's Homeland DLC sneaks out today
Adds two missions, a crossbow, and a couple of suits.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist received a spot of DLC today in the form of its Homeland Pack, publisher Ubisoft has announced.
Available for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC, the Homeland add-on was previously available as a pre-order bonus or as part of the very expensive Collector's Edition. A relatively slim offering at $6.99 (about £4.5), the expansion adds two new missions that are available to tackle in single-player or co-op. One is set on a billionaire's yacht, while the other is set in a Middle Eastern terrorist cell's hideout.
Additionally, the DLC adds a new weapon, the crossbow with sleeping gas bolts, as well as the Upper Echelon suit that protects against fire and helps Sam blend into the shadows, and the 4E Eclipse Suit that allows Fisher to carry more gadgets. There are new aesthetic options too, like new Mercs and Spy skins, and gold, amber and white goggles for players who just want to mix things up a bit.
Our Tom Bramwell rather enjoyed Splinter Cell Blacklist, especially its Spies Vs. Mercs multipplayer. "When the game clicks, which it does often enough across its many modes and missions, it overcomes the inadequacy of its storytelling and reminds you why Splinter Cell was so appealing in the first place," he wrote in his Blacklist review.
