Splatoon's final Splatfest asks the ultimate question

Super Callie goes ballistic, Marie is atrocious.

It's been a week of making hard choices with big consequences, and the toughest one lies ahead. On July 22nd Splatoon is getting its final Splatfest, and Nintendo's positing the ultimate question: Callie or Marie?

Splatoon came out just over a year ago, and since then it's received a hefty amount of support from Nintendo, with free maps and weapons being drip-fed ever since. That support is finally drying up with the final ever Splatfest, it would seem, with the event kicking off on Friday July 22nd and going through Sunday July 24th.

It's been an incredible journey for what, I believe, is one of Nintendo's finest games in a generation. I don't think I'm alone in that, either, with a third of Wii U owners having the game and with over 4 million copies sold.

Splatoon doesn't cease to be after next month's Splatfest, and there's more love from Nintendo coming - towards the end of July a trio of songs from the game's soundtrack will be coming to Wii Karaoke U, and on July 8th Amiibos for Callie and Marie are being released. If you're a superfan you can also head to the Japan Expo in Paris on July 8th for a live concert from the Squid Sisters.

Before then, though, there's the all-important choice to be made. Callie or Marie? There's really only one correct answer.
