Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed won't have voice chat on Wii U

"One of the side effects of being a launch title", dev says.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed will lack voice chat support on Wii U, developer Sumo Digital has announced.

Wii U chat capabilities are operated on a game-by-game basis and require third-party headsets - instead of just using the Wii U GamePad microphone.

"We don't support voice chat on Wii U for those reasons," executive producer Steve Lycett wrote on the official forum (via NeoGAF). "One of the side effects of being a launch title basically. Does support it on PS3 and 360 though!"

Presumably, with more time, the team could have added voice chat features. Other launch titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Mass Effect 3: Wii U Edition do support the feature.
