UPDATE: Patch 1.2 live on PC. "Stay tuned" for console.

UPDATE 12TH NOVEMBER: Skyrim Special Edition update 1.2 is now live on PC. "Stay tuned for news on the Xbox and PS4 release of 1.2," wrote Bethesda on its official support forum.

UPDATE 10TH NOVEMBER: Bethesda has released a beta version of patch 1.2 on PC to fix the crashing issues. "Following our beta update, we will work to release the update on Xbox One and PlayStation 4," wrote Bethesda on its official forum.

Beta content isn't automatically enabled on Steam - you will have to enable it. To do that, log into Steam, right-click on Skyrim Special Edition in your Library and select Properties and then Betas. From the drop-down menu select Beta and then OK, then wait for a few minutes while the game updates. "Skyrim Special Edition [Beta]" should appear in your Library after that.

Skyrim Special Edition 1.2 Update:

  • Fixed crash related to changing from werewolf back to human form

ORIGINAL STORY 9TH NOVEMBER: The latest Skyrim Special Edition patch appears to be causing problems - game crashes - on all three platforms: PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Players trying to load their saved Skyrim Special Edition games are reporting freezes and then abrupt game closures. Commenters on Steam, on Reddit, the Bethesda Support forums and Twitter all appear to be experiencing the same thing. We've also separately been contacted by readers affected by this.

It looks like the Skyrim Special Edition patch responsible is v1.1. We loaded our PC Skyrim Special Edition save and everything worked fine, but we haven't had a chance to test the other platforms.

Said Bethesda community administrator gstaff on the Support Forum: "We're looking into these crash reports. Thank you for the feedback. We will let you guys know as soon as possible." That was 12 hours ago. Remember Bethesda is based in the US and therefore may be disrupted today.

I've contacted Bethesda PR for comment.
