SEGA has finally unveiled Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, a sequel we knew was coming and a theme we heavily suspected.

Wii and DS are the platforms, and the game is due out towards the end of the year. The actual Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games run from 12th to 28th February, just in case you care.

Wii balance board support will be the biggest addition to the outrageously popular IP, and lend an air of realism to events such as Alpine Skiing. More events are to be announced leading up to release, similarly the beefed-up roster of characters.

There's also improved multiplayer for both platforms, which can be played either co-operatively and competitively.

Otherwise, SEGA, under the watchful eye of Shigeru Miyamoto, will be recycling a proven formula that involves Mario and Sonic and friends competing in Olympic events.

And that, hopefully, will result in a further 10 million worldwide sales.
