Slant Six Games, the developer of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, has launched Galactic Reign - a new sci-fi battler for Windows devices.

The turn-based space combat title is available now for Windows 8 PCs, tablets and phones, priced £3.49.

Players can design ships, build fleets and battle to colonise planets.

As skirmishes progress you'll see customised cinematics showing the outcome of your moves. These are generated remotely, take around a minute to render and are delivered via the cloud.

You can see a couple of examples below.

Slant Six describes it as "unique procedural cinematic rendering technology" using "advanced rendering and special FX techniques".

"We are all thrilled to see Galactic Reign go live," Dan Scott, Slant Six Games producer wrote on the company's blog. "The team worked very hard on this ground-breaking and unique game and we are all very proud of the results."

Slant Six's past efforts include games in the SOCOM series, the aforementioned RE:ORC and, most recently, a mobile game called The Bowling Dead. It has another game, Strata Scavenger, in development.
