Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City tops Japan chart

Plus, big debut for Mario Party 9, Vita sales up.

Spin-off zombie shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has entered the Japanese software chart at number one in its debut week.

The Slant Six-developed dud sold 252,525 copies on PlayStation 3 to take the top spot, with a further 16,285 on Xbox 360. That's the best Japanese debut ever for a non-mainline Resi title. Earlier this year 3DS release Resident Evil: Revelations managed 160,575 in its first week.

Elsewhere in the chart, Mario Party 9 came in at second on Wii, selling 152,883 in its first week. The Vita had a rare representative in the top five with Gust adventure Ciel Nosurge: Ushinawareta Hoshi e Sasagu Uta shifting 33,324 for a fourth place debut.

Further down the chart, Dynasty Warriors Vs got off to a slow start on 3DS, selling 15,578 to debut at 10.

And there was a handful of cracking only-in-Japan efforts to marvel at this week too. Conception: Please Give Birth to My Child!, anyone? How about Even in a Game, Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!?
