Pumpkins, Rush, another one.

EA has remembered what the 'a' in its name stands for and announced a trio of downloadable prog-rock songs for Rock Band, celebrating the boundary-breaking work of the likes of Rush, Coheed and Cambria and Smashing Pumpkins.

Well, okay, only them. The Smashing Pumpkins' "Siva" is the headline - and the only one based on a master recording - and is flanked by "Working Man" by Rush and "Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial)" by Coheed and Cambria.

EA will charge USD 1.99 for each, and they will arrive on both Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network in the US on 29th January, which is today! Hurrah! If you're American, anyway.

Rock Band has already been supported by content from the likes of David Bowie, Oasis, Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica, Black Sabbath and The Police, and EA said last week that it has sold more than 2.5 million downloadable songs.

The game has yet to be released here, but is expected this quarter on both PS3 and Xbox 360, in bundles of game, guitar, drums and microphone, and - since it's starting to happen in the US now - hopefully with individual guitars, drum-sets and microphones available separately too.
