Pokémon Sword and Shield Turffield buried treasure riddle explained

In the town of Turffield, there's a hill up to the west, where you'll initially find Sonia waiting for you on your first visit.

At the top of the hill, as you enter the viewing area, there's a little girl in pink. Talk to her and she'll tell you there's treasure buried somewhere in Turffield, and a clue lies in the following riddle:

"Seek yourself three standing stones, with Grass before the other ones. Use well that strength, and find then the strength of its strength in the end. Dally not, if you've a mind to find what time has left behind."

You need to find three standing stones in some kind of order. Here's the solution just below!

Turffield riddle solution: how to solve the puzzle and find the buried treasure in Pokémon Sword and Shield

The solution to the Turffield riddle is surprisingly simple - once you get it. You need to do the following as quickly as possible - we managed to do it at the second try on foot, although it's much easier to do once you get the Rotom Bike on Route 5 (accessible straight after you beat the Turffield Gym).

Turffield treasure riddle solution:

  1. Go to one of the standing stones that's marked "Grass".
  2. Go to the standing stone that's marked "Water" next.
  3. Finally, go to the standing stone that's marked "Fire".

Turffield standing stone locations

There are several large, Stonehenge-like stones with markings on dotted around the town, and up the hill to the west. Interacting with them will tell you what Type is written on the stone. One says "Dark", for instance, another "Grass", and so on.

The Grass standing stone is located left of the Pokémon Center, towards the stadium on the left. It's actually a set of three stones together (which is probably an attempt to throw people off looking for "three standing stones".

The Water standing stone is located on the hill, on the way up to the girl who gave you the riddle. It's on the left side at the top of the dead end, by the man in the suit.

The Fire standing stone, finally, is over in the eastern end of town, between the stadium and the exit to Route 5.

Interact (press A) with each of them in order as quick as you can, and at the third one, Fire, you'll recieve your reward: an Expert Belt!

And that's it! Head back to our page on the town itself, in our walkthrough guide to Turffield Gym and how to beat the Grass Gym Leader Milo, or you can cycle back to our main Pokémon Sword and Shield walkthrough and guide hub for a collection of much more pages like this!
