Pokémon Let's Go Route 2 South, North and Route 2 revisited - available Pokémon, items and trainers

Our complete Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide to your big adventure with Pikachu or Eevee.

Route 2 south, Route 2 north - and Route 2 revisited later on - make up the next route on your journey, and inistially follow on from Viridian City on your early quest through Pokémon Let's Go's main story.

Below, we'll cover any and all of the obtainable Pokémon, item locations, trainers and their squads that you might encounter in the area, as well as walking you through any key steps of the story along the way.

We've also opted to break out walkthrough pages down into sections, referring to each of your visits to a given location, seeing as you often backtrack or revisit various places in your quest to become Champion! Where applicable, we'll split our page into one section for each visit, and of course if there are any, clearly mark any spoilers, too!

Pokémon Let's Go: Route 2 South and North - available Pokémon, items and trainers

Route 2 is an unusual one, being split into what is essentially three different parts: Route 2 South, which is the first part you encounter upon heading north out of Viridian City, as well as Route 2 North, which is out the other side of Viridian Forest (unsurprisingly, to the north of it!), and then there's your return visit to Route 2, in the form of an optional side-section to the Route tucked behind some cuttable-looking trees.

In this seciton, we'll deal with Route 2 South and North together, and in the section further below we'll detail everything you need to know about Route 2 on your optional return visit quite a bit later in the game.

Route 2 South

This bit's short but sweet - simply head north out of Viridian City and collect whatever you need to along the way! There are no items or trainers to be found in this area, so soon enough you'll reach the entrance to Viridian Forest, your next destination.

Route 2 North

This is an equally short area, just out the north side of Viridian Forest.

It has the same Pokémon as the southern part, and again no items or trainers, so your next stop is just a little bit further north, to Pewter City!

Pokémon Let's Go: Rout 2 Revisited - available Pokémon, items and trainers

Later on in your journey you'll gain access to Diglett's Cave, which will take you back out to Route 2 - only this time, the other side of those cuttable trees you might have noticed to your right.

There are several worthwhile items here, and it's also where you'll pick up the pretty essential Secret Technique called Light Up!

Notice that just below the entrance to Diglett's Cave is a little house, and outside you'll bump into Oak's assistant again, who has something he needs to show you back inside - but avoid entering just yet. Instead, go straight down past it and gather all the items on the route (you'll pass through a couple of gatehouses along the way).

Inside, he'll show you a the Secret Technique. This will help you through Rock Tunnel, which is accessed by heading east from Cerulean City, through Route 9 and 10.

Back outside, your Rival will greet you again - he'll take you over to Rock Tunnel right away if you like. If you say no, you'll have to walk all the way over there yourself (it doesn't take too long if you go back via Diglett's Cave, and then up and across from Vermillian City through Cerulean City and east from there). Say yes and he'll fast-travel you right there, but you'll have to trek back here to pick up any items you missed, which is why we said collect them all before heading inside!

There are several 'gates' here on Route 2 so make sure you pass through all of them to your south, and you'll get all the items along the way.

That's everything here for now, but if you're still in the early stages of your adventure, you're probably looking for our next stop: Viridian Forest - or head back to our main Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide hub for all the other pages we have like this.
