Pokémon Let's Go Lavender Town and Pokémon Tower - available Pokémon, items and trainers

Our complete Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide to your big adventure with Pikachu or Eevee.

Lavender Town and Pokémon Tower are your next stops, following on from Rock Tunnel and the brief Route 10 south in your quest through Pokémon Let's Go's main story.

Below, we'll cover any and all of the obtainable Pokémon, item locations, trainers and their squads that you might encounter in the area, as well as walking you through any key steps of the story along the way.

We've also opted to break out walkthrough pages down into sections, referring to each of your visits to a given location, seeing as you often backtrack or revisit various places in your quest to become Champion! Where applicable, we'll split our page into one section for each visit, and of course if there are any, clearly mark any spoilers, too!

For more like this, be it specific systems explainers or walkthrough pages on more locations, head back to our main Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide hub.

Pokémon Let's Go: Lavender Town and Pokémon Tower - available Pokémon, items and trainers

The first time you arrive in Lavender Town, a strange Cubone will run across and into the nearby Pokémon Tower. It's a sign of plenty more strange things to come, as you enter one of Kanto's most unusual places.

There's one brief point of interest in town, before you dive into the next story-led moments: a lady in the Pokémon Center who'll trade you her Alolan Diglett for your regular one. It's a Steel- and Ground-type Pokémon, and Steel-types are pretty rare here in Kanto, so that combined with its elevated 'gift' Pokémon stats make it a handy choice if you fancy it!

Otherwise, follow that little Cubone into Pokémon Tower, where you'll find a huge amount of items and trainers, and some interesting events...

Inside, a Chaneller tells you that there's a troubled spirit somewhere near the top of the tower - another, on the first level, tells you that you may need a Silph Scope to help see what's causing the problem. Head up to that first level to meet your Rival for a battle, and from then on be ready to tackle a lot of Gastly and Haunter, which are both Ghost- and Poison-type. Dark, Ground and Psychic attacks will work very well here!

The tower itself is a strange one. As you try to progress you'll be chased by some strange ghostly figures. If they catch you, you'll be teleported down to the ground floor again, but they're actually easy enough to dodge, so you can work your way right to the top if you're good at evading them! They tend to only stick around for a few seconds at a time before disappearing again, so it's doable if you're smart and can outrun them one wave at a time.

Note that there's a big glowing symbol on the ground on Level 3, where a Channeler has created a protected space. Walk over it to fully heal your Pokémon and save you going all the way back down to the Pokémon Center!

Get to the top - Level 4 - and you'll encounter a huge ghost which your partner Pokémon is too spooked out by to pass, so you have to leave.

Back outside, over by the entrance to Route 8 to the west, you'll spot Jessie and James once more, and they kidnap that Cubone! It looks like they're taking it to Celadon City, so heal up and then head west, through Route 8.

Pokémon Let's Go: Lavender Town and Pokémon Tower revisited

Eventually, you'll manage to grab yourself a Silph Scope, which means its time to return here to Pokémon Tower. A quick warning that there are spoilers ahead, so skip to Route 8 if you've done your first sweep of Pokémon Tower but don't have the Silph Scope yet, and don't want to find out what happens when you do!

As you head over to the tower you'll spot your rival, who bravely volunteers to go into the tower again to help the Cubone find its lost mother.

Head inside with him - as you get up to the second floor you use the Silph Scope, and the ghosts' true form is revealed: they're Ghost-type Pokémon!

Keep climbing and you'll reach the spot where the giant ghost scared you off last time - this time, you'll trigger a rather touching cutscene, bringing a conclusion to the situation with Cubone, and then you'll be free to continue on up to the top floor.

On the top floor you'll find Mr. Fuji, but Jessie and James will attack yet again! Take them down in another double battle, and then talk to Fuji, who'll transport you down to his house and award you the Pokémon Flute, which will wake up that sleeping Snorlax on Route 16 and to the south by Route 12!

You can now continue on past those Snorlax, if you fancy some additional exploration, but you need that fifth Gym Badge at some point, and Team Rocket are still up to no good in the now-unblocked Saffron City, so you should head there next!
