Jubilife City Clown locations and Pokémon, trainers and items

Arrive in Jubilife City and your first job is to look for Barry, who's gone off towards the Trainer School, a building in town. Head there and you can give Barry the Parcel from his mum, which turns out to be a pair of Town Maps - he doesn't need the second, so you can keep it. This is a handy item accessible from the menu which lets you take a look at where you are, and where you need to go next.

Inside the Trainer School there are some people worth talking to, including a pair of trainers on the right hand side who you can battle. Their Abras use a move called Charge Beam, which can help them raise their Special Attack stat if they keep using it - try to take them down quickly! Defeat the trainers and you'll get three TM10s, which contain the move Work Up.

Then, heal up and explore the town until a man offers you a challenge: find three clowns in Jubilife City. It's pretty easy but just in case, here's where they are!

Clown locations

The first Clown is located on the right of town, just behind the Pokémon Center.

The second Clown is located in front of Jubilife TV on the left (west) of town.

The third is in front of the Pokétch Company, a bit further to the west of the second one.

Answer "Yes" to all three of their questions then head back to the main who offered you the challenge, and he gives you a Pokétch! This is a very important item in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It has a few apps on it already, which are mostly pointless, but as you progress you'll get more and more apps for it that are essential for your adventure - including HMs later on, that help you do things like Surf on water, Fly, and clear various obstacles in your path!

You should also talk to the Fisher in the gate building to the west of town to get an Old Rod (by answering Yes to his question), and make a mental note that the GWS is here in town, but closed off for now. The GWS lets you trade with others online, so revisit it later!

Chat to a girl on the ground floor of the condos who has a Pachirisu, and you'll also get a Quick Claw too. Then, it's time to continue. You're heading north now, to Route 204 first, where you can collect a few items and Pokémon before revisiting it later on to finish properly.

It’s time to revisit Sinnoh! Our now complete Diamond and Pearl walkthrough to the main story is where to start. Your journey begins with selecting your starter Pokémon near Twinleaf Town, before visiting Sandgem Town and Jubilife City. To become a Pokémon Master, you need to defeat the Gym Leaders in Oreburgh City, Eterna City, Veilstone City, Pastoria City and Hearthome City, along with three others.

Aside from badges, you’ll want to grab Mystery Gift codes, complete the Sinnoh Pokédex by using Honey Trees, visiting the Great Marsh and the Pokémon Hideaways in the Grand Underground. Take the time to catch Gible, Spiritomb andDrifloon! Finally, you can now catch Arceus.

Route 204 Pokémon, trainers and items

Route 204 is a fairly short route heading north from Jubilife City to a cave called Ravaged Path. You can't get through that cave without the Rock Smash HM app for your Pokétch, but it's worth exploring the area for now anyway.

When you're done here, you can poke your nose into Ravaged Path where you'll come up against some rocks blocking your path, and catch a couple more Pokémon (Psyduck and Geodude) if you like - but you'll be back here again soon, so don't worry about it too much.

Your next stop is Route 203, which you get to by going back south to Jubilife City then heading east! Here's our page on Route 203 and Oreburgh Gate.
