PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One patch promises "slight" frame-rate improvements

Plus aim acceleration slider and more.

There's a new Xbox One patch for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds which targets small improvements to the game's frame count and adds an aim acceleration slider.

Other changes include a buff to weapon damage when firing on vehicles, and other unnamed PhysX and VFX enhancements.

The defining word of the patch notes is "incremental" - the description developer Bluehole used to describe many of the changes. This is not a patch which will fix all of PUBG's problems, but another step on the long road to the game reaching a state where it can leave Xbox's Game Preview programme.

It's a process which began in December, just days after launch, when a 4.7GB update arrived to take a "first pass" at the battle royale game's performance and visuals.

Battlegrounds landed on Xbox One nearly a month ago and was criticised at launch for performing badly on both vanilla Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Today's patch notes lie in full below:

Gameplay

  • Aim acceleration can now be adjusted by players via in-game option
  • Player weapon damage has been increased against vehicles. We will continue to monitor player feedback and telemetry and make further balancing adjustments as needed in future updates
  • FPP Solo matchmaking queue will be made available for NA/EU/and Oceanic servers. We will open other modes within those regions as concurrency allows
  • Fixed an issue that caused indoor lighting and shadows to appear too dark and blueish
  • Analog stick acceleration added while exiting the plane and while parachuting

Optimisation

  • PhysX performance enhancements
  • Server FPS slightly increased
  • Client FPS slightly increased
  • Some VFX received slight optimizations

Option

  • Music on/off option added

Bug fixes

  • Addressed a number of known crashes
  • Fixed a UI issue that occurred when multiple players attempted to loot from the same source
