Patreon pulls NSFW Bowser art following reported Nintendo copyright claim

Shell shading.

Remember the good old days of Bowsette? The cross between Bowser and Princess Peach fuelled a wave of extremely NSFW artwork on the internet, and naturally, the internet wasn't quite done with Bowser yet. We now have another entry in the "things that upset Nintendo" catalogue, as a 3D model of Bowser's penis has been removed from Patreon - seemingly as a result of a Nintendo copyright claim.

As reported by the Daily Dot, 3D adult modeller AkkoArcade said that their prop of Bowser's penis, intended for use in Source Filmmaker videos, had been removed from Patreon due to a Nintendo copyright claim. "This peepee got claimed by Nintendo," AkkoArcade tweeted. If you really want to see the model in its full glory - and I warn you it is extremely NSFW - you can find the original tweet here.

AkkoArcade has theorised that a random person could have made the copyright strike while pretending to be Nintendo, but regardless, Patreon has chosen to pull the model. They also theorised that an automated system looking for Nintendo names could have flagged the prop, as the post was directly named after Bowser.

AkkoArcade says they were sent this email by Patreon, telling them their content had been removed due to a copyright claim.

The 3D model has since been uploaded elsewhere for free, of course, so Nintendo's lawyers will have some work on their hands if they want to keep stamping it out - although AkkoArcade is no longer profiting from the model. Still, Nintendo is renowned for cracking down on almost any fan project or soundtrack it can, so we'll have to see how long this one will stay up for.
