Nintendo finally confirms the truth about Toad's head

Head... or hat?

Nintendo has finally confirmed that Toad's head is indeed his head - and not, as some had recklessly speculated, a hat - settling an issue that's been hotly debated for decades.

The shocking revelation (shocking for those poor, misguided souls on Team Hat, at least) comes courtesy of Super Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi, who took the time to answer a few Mario-related fan questions in a new - and, need I remind you - officially sanctioned video from Nintendo.

"I'm going to have to leave it to all of you to figure out exactly how that works out", said Koizumi after his megaton head-reveal, "Maybe there's something inside..."

While today's news won't come as much of a surprise to the right thinking folk on Team Head, there was at least some evidence to the contrary - so you can kind of understand how misguided Hatters might have started their journey down the dark path:

LIES.

This despicable, widely disseminated piece of anti-head propaganda comes from the 1980s Super Mario Bros cartoon. Which, as Eurogamer news editor Tom Phillips is furiously reminding me in capital letters while I type, IS NON CANON.

Elsewhere in the video, Koizumi reveals that the Super Mario Odyssey team was so taken aback by the fan response to topless Mario's missing belly button, that it seriously considered adding one to the final game. There are also hints that there's maybe a little something in Super Mario Odyssey that players are yet to discover - probably the shattered fragments of Team Hat's entire belief system at this point.
