Rainbow 6 locked down for PC

It's out early next year.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the PC version of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Lockdown will hit the shops early next year - long after the PS2, Xbox and GameCube versions, in other words.

New features will include and "enhanced tactical experience" - more intelligent enemies, basically, who can now use Lock Fusers, and hostages that you have to keep safe as you navigate your way through each level.

There will be a multiplayer reward system and a new "Free-for-all" game type, plus the return of three classic maps - 747, Mint and Bunkers. "Class style" gameplay will allow for more specialisation, missions have been "reimagined" to make them even more challenging and the rivalry mode has been revamped.

There are 20 new weapons and more than 40 in total, including six you've never seen before in a Rainbow game. More than a dozen "fan favourites" are back, and you can customise your weapons with silencers, scopes, red-dot sights, hi-cap magazines and the like.

Let's hope it's an improvement on the console versions - why not read our review of the Xbox one, if your memory needs jogging.
