Thief III steals Euro release date

Eidos comes clean on when you're going to be playing both Xbox and PC versions.

Eurogamer has learnt that Eidos will release European versions of Thief: Deadly Shadows for both Xbox and PC in June this year. A specific date has not been decided as yet.

The game, the third in the vaunted stealth-action series, this time from Ion Storm, arrives as the second Xbox/PC hybrid from the infamous American developer this year, hot on the heels of Deus Ex: Invisible War.

Eidos had officially tagged the game with a "spring 2004" release date before today, and has as yet given no reason for any delay. The game will form a cornerstone of the company's E3 showing, partnering with controversial Guerrilla shooter ShellShock: Nam '67.

Thief: Deadly Shadows yet again features the covert, Gothic adventures of Garrett, but this time from a third-person perspective over the previous first-person view. Screens so far heavily push the lighting aspects so central to previous titles. It's like Splinter Cell. With bows, arrows and bad hygiene.

The release date is expected to be officially announced in the coming weeks.
