MS unveils €330K Live giveaway

Now everyone can get paid to play games...

Xbox Live Europe is closing in on its first official birthday (it was actually born in November, but like the Queen prefers to celebrate post-beta), and in keeping with tradition Microsoft has announced plans to celebrate - by giving away €330,000 worth of cash and prizes to the owners of randomly selected Gamertags.

In order to make yourself eligible for one of the daily prizes, all you have to do is log on to the Live service between March 1st and March 14th (Live's official birthday). Doing that puts you in the hat to win either a daily cheque for €1000, or, as one of 35 daily runners-up, a rather snazzy black and green Xbox courier bag - containing ten Live games (inc. PGR2 and Topspin), a Controller S, and a limited edition T-shirt. Even that's worth about €650.

Winning Gamertags will be posted throughout the two-week period at Xbox.com, and winners will also be notified by email. (T&Cs available here.) The only slight niggle in all of this is that it doesn't cover the whole of Live's European installed base - just the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland and Finland. Still, you can't fault them for effort! See you online...
