id to spice up Quake 4

1.3 to make gameplay changes.

The next major Quake 4 patch will make a number of changes based on "feedback from the people playing it the most," according to id Software.

The 1.3 "point release", due out sometime before QuakeCon (August 3rd), "will provide a faster, smoother, and more highly competitive experience," apparently.

id says it'll do that by increasing "mobility and control" and sorting out performance for people using ambient lighting options, and by making some weapon alterations.

The idea is to make the game more appealing to people who play it competitively, but also to make it more fun for new players, the PC developer says.

Whether any of this will be applied to the Xbox 360 version is unknown.
