Wii baseball from Take-Two?

They're interested.

Take-Two's considering expanding some of its sports game titles onto Nintendo Wii.

Perhaps taking a cue from Nintendo's own Wii Sports games, or EA's interest in creating bespoke versions of Madden and other titles for the innovative next-gen platform, Take-Two's CFO Karl Winters told investors that it was an area of interest to the publisher.

"The reception this platform received at the E3 show, you know, is one that makes us take a real strong look at it," he said in comments picked up by GameSpot.

"And as we grow our sports business, there are opportunities with our sports games to extend them to the Wii system," he added, noting that baseball in particular - for which Take-Two holds an exclusive license - would be ideal, as would some of its other non-licensed franchises.

That said, apparently there isn't much going on in terms of development right now, as Winters went on to say that any Wii titles would likely appear in late 2007 or even 2008, by which time the system will be firmly established.

Meanwhile, as mentioned, its big sports competitor EA is ramping up for the Wii launch, preparing a Madden Wii game that uses gesture based controls, which was playable on Nintendo's stand at E3.
