Japanese Mario Kart in April after all?

Source close to Nintendo says so.

Just a few hours ago, you may recall, Nintendo denied rumours a date had been set for Mario Kart Wii in Japan.

The date was said to be 10th April, but Nintendo declared nothing had been confirmed.

That's still the official line. But after speaking to sources close to the company, Eurogamer has learned the date is correct. Apparently it will be confirmed in the next issue of Famitsu, due on 10th February.

Of course, it's highly unlikely Mario Kart Wii will get a simultaneous release in Europe - that kind of thing has never been Nintendo's style. But at least it gives us hope for the summer...

Expect more concrete info in the coming days.
