Harmonix "would love" to do Amplitude 2

Rigopulos keen on idea of PS3 sequel.

Harmonix boss Alex Rigopulos has said he would "love" to do a sequel to Amplitude on PlayStation 3, and has already talked to IP owner Sony about the possibility.

"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I would love to," said Rigopulos to Ars Technica of the chance to port Amplitude to PSN.

"That game is still close to my heart. I love it. I'd love to do a sequel to Amplitude, actually.

"It's an issue of prioritisation. For us, that lingering question of 'what are we going to do about Amplitude' is still very much out there. I would love to come back and do it right for the PlayStation 3," he added, explaining that Sony recognises the demand for musical games is much higher now than six years ago.

Rigopulos doesn't want to stop there, either, and said Harmonix was looking at porting Phase or creating "something more ambitious" for the iPhone.

Harmonix made headlines after creating the Guitar Hero series then ditching partners Activision and RedOctane in favour of MTV and new project Rock Band.

So far the developer has set a rigorous pace by releasing Rock Band 2 less than a year after the original, but insists there will be no new instalment this year, as an annual cycle "places limits on the choices you can make as a developer".

Harmonix is currently hard at work on Beatles music game, which will not fall under the Rock Band but apparently still work with the associated instrument peripherals.
