EA makes Dead Space free on Origin

"We're gamers, too..."

EA has launched a new PC game promotion on its digital platform Origin - and as part of it Dead Space is free.

The On the House promotion offers the game that kicked off Visceral's sci-fi horror series for free until 8th May. Once you've claimed the game it's yours to keep. Expect more PC games to be offered as part of the promotion, EA said.

Why is Origin doing this?

"We're gamers, too," EA said. "We appreciate you making Origin your gaming home... and besides, who doesn't like free stuff?"

The first Dead Space launched in 2008 and was well received, but didn't sell as well as EA had hoped. A sequel followed, then another game, rounding out the trilogy. After that failed to set tills alight, reports indicated EA had canned the series. Developer Visceral is now making the next Battlefield game, codenamed Project Havana.
