UbiSoft picks up Loose Cannon and Conquest : Frontier Wars

The gaming community was surprised last year by the news that Microsoft had cancelled two titles under development by Digital Anvil, Loose Cannon and Conquest : Frontier Wars. Since then Microsoft has bought the troubled Texan company and the designers of the two canned games have been busy searching for alternative publishers. Now that search is at an end, as UbiSoft has announced that it will be publishing both PC titles, as well as new console versions of Loose Cannon.

Producer Eric Peterson will be completing development of Conquest (which was apparently almost done when Microsoft unexpectedly pulled the plug) at his new company Fever Pitch Studios, with the space strategy game now expected to be released this autumn. Meanwhile UbiSoft's own Sinister Games studio will be finishing up work on actioneer Loose Cannon, which should appear some time next year. "Loose Cannon and Conquest: Frontier Wars are both incredible games that are going to revolutionize their respective genres", according to UbiSoft CEO Yves Guillemot, which is a rather different opinion to the one expressed by Microsoft last year...
