Are you the UK's best Nintendo gamer?

You could win a trip to Japan if so.

Calling all women and old people - a new competition is being launched to find Britain's best Nintendo gamer.

To enter, you'll need to visit a participating shop on Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th October. There you'll compete by playing four games - Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. DS.

Two entrants will be selected at each store to go forward to the 16-player final, where they'll battle it out to win the title of Britain's Best Nintendo Gamer. Presenter, comedian, Absolute Radio DJ and PS3-hater Iain Lee will host the event, which takes place on Friday 30th October. It will be held at the Odeon in Covent Garden.

The finalists will become the first gamers in the country to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii before its official release. They'll also get sent every first-party Nintendo game released for one year.

The overall winner will be awarded a trip for five people to Nintendo's hometown in Japan, worth £10,000. The prize will be presented by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario.

Stores taking part in the tournament include Gamestation in Hull, Norwich, Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh Princess Street [Princes, surely?]. Alternatively you can visit the GAME stores on Oxford Street or in Bluewater, or the GAME concessions in Selfridges, Trafford Centre and Borders, Swansea.
