Watch us complete Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes in just 10 minutes

Sprint, shoot and skip the cut-scenes.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is a fantastic game. Martin Robinson's recently-published review explains why.

But its length has generated a good deal of controversy. Last month it was claimed that Ground Zeroes' main mission could be completed in under two hours - a figure some criticised given the game costs as much as £30.

But just how short can Ground Zeroes be?

In the video below, Eurogamer YouTube Editor Ian Higton speeds through Ground Zeroes in just 10 minutes - but he does so knowing exactly what to do having finished the game a few times now. He also ignores all of the side mission content and skips all the cut-scenes.

So, this video isn't about what you should do, rather, what you can do. It's more an attempt at a speed run than anything else.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has addressed the discussion around the game's length, saying its non-linear design means it contains a lot more depth than its more structured forebears - and simply making a beeline for the credits is missing much of what makes Ground Zeroes special.

"Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes includes the main mission alongside five Side Ops," the developer said on Twitter last month.

"All missions include elements such as 'Trial Records,' where players can compete against each other online. This is not a linear game like the past. GZ offers freedom of approach & play style, which we hope players will enjoy over and over again without boring [them]."

"I believe people will be satisfied with the 'Play Time' of GZ and will not stress the 'Clear Time,' which is a standard for linear games."
