There's an official Resident Evil 7 "4D VR candle"

Wicked.

Someone is making an officially-licensed Resident Evil 7 candle for you to burn while playing the game.

The £14.99/€19.99 accessory is appropriately putrid: its makers describe the Blood, Sweat and Fears 4D Candle as having odours of musty "old timber and blood".

Why is it 4D? (It's not, because the fourth dimension is time.) Because you're playing a 3D game - perhaps also in VR - and the pongy candle smell is an extra sense on top. Yep.

Buy one and you're in for 18-20 hours of candle burning. Although perhaps a nearby naked flame while immersed in VR isn't the best of ideas.

The candle launches on 20th January, just ahead of Resident Evil 7's 24th January launch.

"The 4D candle is 100 per cent officially licensed Resident Evil merchandise; this means Capcom have smelt the candle and found it scary to enough to give their seal of approval," retailer Merchoid explained.

"We'd even suggest that using the Blood, Sweat and Fears 4D Candle is the definitive way to experience the game. Be careful though, with an experience this horrifying, the candle might not be the only smell you notice in the room..."

And if that's not immersive enough... Capcom UK is running a live-action Resident Evil Experience based upon the game's spooky Baker Mansion house.

The 45-minute experience will run 20th-23rd January in London and be free to attend, with places filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"Set in a haunted and dilapidated venue in the heart of London's East End, those brave enough to enter will take on the part of investigative journalist interns," a press release reads. Scary indeed. You'll help a supposed paranormal TV production team investigate lost crew members, while solving puzzles and dodging enemies.
