Sorry, Leeds fans - FIFA 21 doesn't have Elland Road at launch

When Leeds United were promoted to the Premier League last season, ending a run of 16 years outside the top flight of English football, fans thought that the team's famous ground, Elland Road would surely be recreated in FIFA 21 - it would have been the first time Elland Road appeared in an EA Sports FIFA game.

But it is not to be. Not yet, anyway.

EA announced the full list of stadiums in FIFA 21, and remarkably, Elland Road is not in the game at launch. In a blog post, EA put this down to last season ending much later than planned. However, it did hint at Elland Road being added to FIFA 21 at some point post-launch.

"In FIFA 21, we're excited to include five new stadiums to play in, with a sixth still to come," EA said.

"While the later than planned end to the 2019/20 season meant we weren't able to recreate Elland Road in an EA Sports FIFA game for the first time ever in time for the launch of FIFA 21, we are committed to giving fans the chance to play in all 20 Premier League stadiums and will provide more news on post-launch updates in the future."

While Elland Road doesn't make the cut, there are 95 licensed stadiums in the game. Of note: the only Italian stadium in the game is the San Siro (EA nabbed AC and Inter Milan from PES for this year's game), but FIFA 21 has lost the Estadio Olimpico after Konami snagged Roma as an exclusive.

New stadiums for this year's game include Providence Park (home of MLS team Portland Timbers), the Benteler-Arena (SC Paderborn 07), Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes (Granada CF) and Stadion An der Alten Försterei (Union Berlin).
