Pokémon Go officially released in the UK

Squirtle!

After an excruciating wait - if indeed you did wait and didn't do the old workaround - Pokémon Go has been released in the UK on Android and iOS. It's right there - look!

It's the game that's been taking the world by storm - Pokémon Go is the most popular mobile game in US history - and it's pushing people together in the real-world as they chase pokémon to add to their collection. Naturally that brings with it its own challenges, ones the UK tabloids have already been quick to pounce upon, the sharks, although there are legitimate reasons parents should be concerned: road safety, stranger danger, that kind of thing.

We took Pokémon Go for a spin in the grey London borough of Croydon while trying to work out what it had to actually offer. We've also written a Pokémon Go guide and a how-to for unlocking Pikachu as your Pokémon Go starter.

Incidentally, features like pokémon trading are planned for an update further down the line.

Pokémon Go is free-to-play.
