One of Battlefield 2's best maps is coming to Battlefield 4

Boom.

DICE's good work with Battlefield 4 continues: it's just announced new free DLC for the two-year-old game.

Dragon Valley 2015 is a new map based on Dragon Valley from Battlefield 2, and it's due out on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as part of the Legacy Operations DLC later this year.

Like the original, Dragon Valley 2015 is a large vehicle map. But it's been modernised in a number of areas, as outlined on Battlelog.

The increased draw distance of Battlefield 4 meant DICE could increase the terrain verticality to closer mimic a real life Chinese river valley. There's also a dynamic cloud layer, which helps to shroud far distances at ground level, and sets up cool aerial firefights above the cloud level.

Legacy Operations is coming to current-gen consoles, but not last generation consoles. DICE said it wanted to focus on the more powerful systems, but it sounds like PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players will only get critical updates when needed from now on.
