Mythic Entertainment has announced the development of Dark Age of Camelot: New Frontiers, a free downloadable expansion pack for its Arthurian MMORPG which aims to reinvent the game's Realm vs. Realm (RvR) combat system.

As it stands, RvR is one of the game's key components, facilitating player versus player combat at the frontiers of each realm, and with the New Frontiers pack Mythic aims to make it even better - making it more accessible to newcomers, improving the reward structure, making things like siege warfare a bit more complex, and also deepening the tactical possibilities for both sides. New Frontiers will also reshape some frontier regions where RvR combat takes place.

With the expansion already undergoing open beta testing, it should be on track to hit Mythic's Q2 2004 release estimate, and you can keep up to date on all things New Frontiers via the regularly updated official website.

Here in Europe, Camelot fans can also gear up for the February 27th release of the Trials of Atlantis expansion (a paying one this time I'm afraid), which should clock in at about 15 notes and allows adventurers to explore the sunken civilisation of Atlantis.
