US publisher Majesco has confirmed reports that Psychonauts is to appear on PS2 as well as Xbox and PC. This week also marked the launch of the new (and noisy) Psychonauts website, featuring an extensive gameplay trailer. You can find the website here, or you can head here to download the trailer in peace and quiet.

Psychonauts, which is in development at Tim Schafer's Double Fine Productions, was once an Xbox exclusive project backed by Microsoft, but the Xbox giant's support evaporated last year and Double Fine only recently signed a new publishing deal with Majesco, which has vowed to release the game in 2005. It's a peculiar game - you control a character exploring the inside of various mental patients' heads - but in the hands of former LucasArts man Tim Schafer it's well worth keeping an eye on.

"We've had fans contact us since the game was announced asking about a PlayStation 2 version and I'm happy to finally be able to say 'YES!'," he said in a statement. However, Double Fine itself will not be handling the PS2 version - Majesco has handed that duty off to Budcat Creations, who will work on the project under Schafer and co.'s supervision.
