Natural Selection 2 developer session at Rezzed

"Rezzed is about to get up close and personal to some xenomorph evolution."

"Oh my god will they ever shut up about this show?" Yes! But not until it's over! In the meantime, we have a few more bits and bobs to reveal for Rezzed, including the news today that Unknown Worlds will be showcasing Natural Selection 2 in another of our scintillating developer sessions.

Natural Selection was one of the most popular Half-Life modifications ever released, pitting humans against aliens in an epic multiplayer blend of first-person shooter and real-time strategy. It was also the first multiplayer FPS to include a Commander class, whose job it was to lead the team, lay down buildings and whatnot from a top-down 2D perspective. Games like Battlefield 2 and Savage would later build on its example. Ah, this takes us back...

The sequel is a full-blown standalone game that builds on the principles of the original. Commanders still lead teams from a top-down view, building structures, collecting resources and researching upgrades. The human Marines build turrets and attack the Aliens, who are building upgrade chambers and gloopily evolving themselves in ongoing defiance.

The developers are also promising WYSIWYG graphical and scripting tools to help players create their own weapons, scenarios and game-types, which sounds pretty sweet.

It's all stuff that Unknown Worlds' Hugh Jeremy will likely get into during the Natural Selection 2 developer session on Friday 6th July at 5pm when he walks attendees through some of the game's features and takes questions from the audience.

"Natural Selection 2 is now only months from release. Rezzed is about to get up close and personal to some xenomorph evolution," said Jeremy, really getting into the spirit of things.

Also speaking on Friday will be The Creative Assembly, Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford and Carmageddon developer Stainless Games, plus a couple more yet to be announced.

Rezzed: The PC and Indie Games Show takes place at the Brighton Centre, Brighton, on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July. Tickets and more details are available now from www.rezzed.com.
