Fable Legends beta test due next year

Lionhead currently has "no plans" to develop Fable 4.

Lionhead's recently-announced multiplayer adventure Fable Legends for Xbox One is the only game in the series currently in-development, the developer has said.

(Well, that and the upcoming Fable 1 remake Anniversary.)

Microsoft neglected to provide a release date for Fable Legends, but Lionhead expects a beta test to be ready next year.

"We will release new and more information about the game on our website, including opportunities for beta testing the game in 2014," Lionhead explained in a wide-ranging Fable Legends FAQ.

The studio currently has no intention of making a fully-fledged Fable 4, it continued - Legends is taking up almost all of its resources.

"Fable Legends is the only Fable core game in development, and we have no plans to make a sequel to Fable 3. Lionhead always has additional projects in incubation and experimentation, but Fable Legends is the near-exclusive focus of our studio and its development staff."

Lionhead also confirmed that Legends' single-player mode will see players paired with three AI companions. Any combination of up to four human players/AI bots is possible while another human/AI takes on the villain role.

Kinect controls won't be implemented for main gameplay, although a human-controlled villain can use it for some limited voice commands. A city hub area will have mini-games and pub games that will use Kinect "where it's fun and appropriate".
