The PS3 Slim has done the business in Japan, shifting 151,783 units for the week ending 6th September.

M-create data puts the console well ahead of competition, as a second-place DS posts 68,728 sales. Following at a distance are PSP with 22,184 sales and Wii with 21,557 sales, and we find Xbox 360 and PS2 way behind with 6827 and 3001 sales, respectively.

Sony's success is echoed in the software chart, where a new PS3 Gundam title from Namco Bandai (Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki: Lost War Chronicles) thunders into first-place with 178,000 sales.

Regional favourites Tomodachi Collection and Dragon Quest IX take two and three, but sales of 87,000 and 50,000 are paltry in comparison. Nevertheless, DQIX moves confidently closer to the 4m sales mark for the region.

New DS game Love Plus takes four ahead of Wii Sports Resort at five, and from there sales drop dramatically. Monster Hunter Tri at six, for example, has half as many sales (22,000) as Wii Sports Resort.
