Insomniac confirms Spider-Man: Miles Morales is like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of scope

Insomniac has issued an update on Spider-Man: Miles Morales after Sony's recent PlayStation 5 event sparked confusion among fans about the nature of the game.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of scope, creative director Brian Horton said today of the "holiday 2020" PS5 game in a PlayStation Blog post. The Lost Legacy was a superb Uncharted spin-off, but it was shorter than the mainline games. The expectation, then, is Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be a shorter game than its predecessor.
It is not a remaster of Insomniac's wonderful PlayStation 4 Spider-Man game with extra content, as some thought based on comments from a Sony executive in a newspaper interview. Rather, it is a standalone game.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set during the winter, about a year after the events of the first game. As such, New York is covered in snow. And just before Christmas, a war between an energy corp and a criminal army breaks out, with Miles' home in Harlem at the centre.
What has been the subject of debate since Spider-Man: Miles Morales was announced is how big the game is. Here's Horton clearing it up:
"You'll experience a full story arc with Miles, one that's more akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of overall scope. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel's Spider-Man universe. And we hope it will be for you as well."
As for gameplay and visual improvements, Horton said to expect "near-instant" loading, ray-tracing, 3D audio and for the game to show off the DualSense controller.
The characters have been upgraded with 4D scans and improved skin shading for extra realism, as well as spline-based hair that moves more naturally. Insomniac has also updated many of the city's assets.
It's clear at this point that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not Spider-Man 2, although that game is of course in the works (how couldn't it be, given the incredible critical and sales success of the first game?). In the blog post, Horton hinted at this game while touching on the fate of Peter Parker.
"Many of you fans have wondered if Peter Parker is OK," Horton said. "Don't worry, we still have much of Peter's story left to tell. But this game is all about Miles, a critical part of our Spider-Man universe, and you won't want to miss what happens."
I suppose the only question to answer is, is there a version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales that will also be released on PS4?
