Image & Form unveils fantasy deck-builder SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech

Coming "first to Switch" this year.

Image & Form has unveiled the latest entry in its superb SteamWorld series. It's called SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech, and it's coming "first to Switch" this year.

SteamWorld Quest - which debuted during Nintendo's latest indie-focussed Switch presentation - is a fantasy-themed RPG with deck-building elements. And it's coupled with Image & Form's typically gorgeous artwork, as you can see in the trailer below.

In its accompanying press release, Image & Form elaborated a little further, explaining that players will "lead a party of heroic steambots through a beautifully hand-drawn world and intense battles." Battles are turn-based and play out using a hand-crafted deck of "punch cards", with the developer promising over 100 unique cards to choose from.

"What awaits you is a luscious treasure chest filled with gold, dragons, vivid worlds, magic, knights in shining armor as well as XP, turn-based battles and all that good RPG stuff", Image & Form revealed. "The humorous mix of traditional fantasy and steampunk robots makes for an unforgettable experience with lots of laughs."

According to Nintendo, SteamWorld Quest: The Hand of Gilgamech will be coming "first to Switch" when it releases in 2019. Image & Form says that "price, release date, story, gameplay details, future platforms and so on" will be revealed in the coming months.
