Guitar Hero III dated

Official confirmation.

As we pointed out earlier, retailers have been promising us Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on 23rd November for a little while now, but now Activision's officially saying the same thing. Hurrah!

That means that you will be able to go out to a shop or an Internet in a month's time and put down for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii or PS2 version of Guitar Hero III, either stand-alone (for 360 and PS2, anyway), or with the new wireless Gibson Les Paul controller.

Fancy pants types might be getting excited about Harmonix/EA's Rock Band, due out for PS3 and 360 early next year, but Neversoft's first stab at the Guitar Hero motherbrand should be worth a look too, with songs from the likes of Muse, Killers, Chili Peppers and Guns N Roses with which to wirelessly rock out.

Retail also points to a PC launch on 23rd November, although Activision makes no mention of it - probably because Aspyr Media's handling it, not them. A DS version is also planned, although nobody seems to know when it will be finished, or even exactly how it's going to work. We've heard some rumours though, and it sounds funky.

Wondering whether it's any good? Well, if you have an Xbox 360, one of the Guitar Hero II controllers and a CD or DVD burner, you can find out today thanks to a downloadable demo.
