Guitar Hero III for PC, Mac

Rock your desktop.

Aspyr Media has revealed it is developing Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for PC and Macintosh.

Publisher Activision now has all of its platform-bases covered (PC, PS3, PS2, 360, Wii, DS, Mac), as super-rival Rock Band gets ever closer.

"Providing the option for our fans to play Guitar Hero at their desk or on a laptop on the go is incredibly exciting," said the Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane and man who probably didn't think that statement through properly.

"PC and Mac gamers can now shred as hard as their console counterparts do, and it's a great opportunity to help promote musicianship and expand the growing number of Guitar Hero fans worldwide."

Guitar Hero III on PC and Mac will boast a little more in the online department, where you'll be able to smash out power chords against each other until your little rock heart is content.

Other than that, it will be almost exactly the same as the PS3 and 360 versions, although there's no word yet on what sort of peripheral it will use.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be available on PC and Mac along with the other versions later this year.
