Free FIFA 14 with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders only

Microsoft corrects itself.

Only those who pre-order the Xbox One Day One Edition will get a free copy of FIFA 14, Microsoft has confirmed.

The company had announced that all Xbox One pre-orders would qualify for a free download of the football game. Indeed, a tweet by the official Xbox account saying so remains online.

However, this is incorrect, Microsoft social marketing manager Graeme "AceyBongos" Boyd said on his Twitter account today.

"Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last," he tweeted.

"If you have already pre-ordered a Day One Edition Xbox One, or pre-order one from now on while stocks last, you will receive FIFA 14 free.

"Another important note - the Day One Edition Xbox One FIFA 14 offer is valid in Europe, this holiday, while stocks last."

Later, AceyBongos confirmed you'll be able to give your FIFA 14 download code to a friend, if you don't fancy it.

Xbox One Day One Edition stock is still going at a number of UK shops, including GAME. Amazon has sold out, though.

The Xbox One Day One Edition, which costs the same as the Standard Edition, comes with a commemorative controller and a token code to unlock an exclusive Achievement.
