EA ships 3.5 million copies of Mass Effect 3 around the world

"We have been truly humbled."

Hot on the heels of the news that Mass Effect 3 sold close to 900,000 copies in the US day one, EA has announced it has shipped over 3.5 million units to retailers worldwide.

That's shipped, mind, not sold through to consumers.

In its celebratory press release, EA said the BioWare sci-fi romp has enjoyed over 30 perfect review scores, with the Xbox 360 version sitting pretty on a 95/100 Metascore.

"We have been truly humbled by the amazing response from fans and critics for Mass Effect 3," said BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka.

"The game is a gripping, engaging experience where the decisions and choices you make will truly stay with you for the months and years ahead. We are all incredibly proud of Casey Hudson and the teams in Edmonton and Montreal for delivering the best game BioWare has ever made."

Yesterday EA boss John Riccitiello revealed Mass Effect 3 sold 890,000 copies in the US in its first 24 hours on sale.

"We anticipated it doing well, so we're happy," he said.

US giant GameStop saw 40 per cent of day one customers also buy a download code for the day one DLC From Ashes. "The tie ratio at the register is the highest in their history," Riccitiello said.
