EA doing game based on Dante's Inferno

So says Variety report.

Electronic Arts is turning to classical poetry for ideas these days, according to a Variety report. .

Apparently work is currently underway on a game inspired by Dante's Inferno. It's said to be "a modern interpretation of the epic poem" that will see players "fighting their way through the depths of hell".

EA trademarked the 'Dante's Inferno' name back in February for film, game and TV purposes. The videogame is said to be out late next year.

But according to Variety, bidding is already underway for the rights to a movie tie-in. Universal, Paramount, New Regency and MGM are all said to be keen.

EA has declined to comment.
