E3: Sony unveils Infamous

New IP from Sucker Punch.

Sony eventually got around to exclusive games at its E3 conference earlier today, revealing a new superhero-themed title from Sucker Punch, developers of the Sly Cooper series.

It looks to be a moody third-person action game, which lets you choose your fate as either a hero or a villain brandishing wonderful and powerful abilities. As you grow and either wreak havoc or seek justice, the city and population will evolve around you - depending on the choices you make.

We saw the main character flip over cars, blow things up and fight a robot in the on-stage trailer. It wasn't unlike the action in Crackdown. But that can't be a bad thing.

Infamous is due out in 2008. Expect a trailer and screenshots to be released in the next day or so at E3.
