Draw Something TV show in the works

Compete against celebrities from your own home.

A TV show based on social gaming phenomenon Draw Something is in the works in the United States.

The popular mobile game has been picked up by CBS according to a post at RyanSeacrest.com (thanks, Variety). The show will see teams of celebrities compete at the Pictionary-like drawing game, while audience members at home can play along for a chance to win prizes.

The show will be made in conjunction with Ryan Seacrest Productions, Sony Pictures Television and Embassy Row. The production companies' collective résumé includes Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Keeping up with the Kardashians and The Glee Project.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest will be an executive producer alongside Embassy Row president Michael Davies, and Ryan Seacrest Productions CEO Adam Sher.

While Seacrest is heavily involved in the production, he is not expected to host, and an anchor has not yet been confirmed.

Draw Something came out in March this year, accumulating 35 million downloads in its first six weeks. Farmville and Words with Friends publisher Zynga purchased developer OMGPOP for around $200 million later that month.

Despite its strong opening, Draw Something's daily active users reportedly declined drastically from 15 million to 10 million within a month of its purchase by Zynga.

The Draw Something TV show doesn't yet have a released date, but with CBS' fall schedule in place, it's unlikely to air this year.
