Dragon Quest Swords for Wii dated

Show the Slime who's boss next month.

Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will be released here on 9th May - another nail in the coffin for Nintendo's massive, slightly wrong release schedule.

The game, which will presumably require inventive font use if it's ever going to fit on the front of a DVD case, is the first DQ RPG to be developed from the ground up for Wii, and this appears to mean that you'll flap the Wii remote around as if it were a sword.

Squenix promises "all the familiar features", including the ability to power up weapons and (perhaps) have amnesia and blue hair, and in addition to the Wiimote fighting there are mini-games that see you catching darts with your shield and trying to defeat Slime monsters quickly to secure bonus items.

All this because, as a 16-year-old coming of age, you need to undertake the Walk of the Worthy, something the teenagers of Avalon have to undertake to prove their manhood.

Good news, too, for those of you reading this in your second, third or even first language, because the game's been localised in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. So if you're one of them, get in.
