Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter funded in under 12 hours

It's a kind of magic.

The Kickstarter for fantasy role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin 2 was funded in under 12 hours.

The Kickstarter set a target of $500,000. Currently, $591,526 has been pledged by 13,759 backers, with 34 days still to go.

The speed with which the crowdfunding effort succeeded took developer Larian by surprise, boss Swen Vincke said in the video, below, and so stretch goals are yet to be added to the campaign. But they're coming soon.

"Who would've predicted that a pitch built around adding extra dialogue options and origin stories to a complex RPG would be capable of mobilising so many people so fast?" he said in an update on the Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter.

"For RPG developers like us it's like a dream come true. You are allowing us to create deep complex RPG experiences that we love to make and we're so very grateful to all of you!"

Richard Cobbett checked out Divinity: Original Sin 2 for Eurogamer, and he came away impressed. "The additional ideas already on show are fresh, promising, and most of all, feel like they're coming at the right time," he wrote.
