Cyberpunk 2077 how to buy cars, motorbikes, and how to steal vehicles explained

How to ride in style through Night City.

Cars and motorbikes are the best way to travel Night City if you want to both arrive quickly and enjoy the view in Cyberpunk 2077.

While V does own a car in Cyberpunk 2077, you might find yourself wanting a faster or cooler looking ride as the game progresses, which means you'll need to buy a car or motorbike.

Though, if you're low on Eddies, you could always steal a car - this is Night City after all.

How to unlock cars and motorbikes in Cyberpunk 2077

Night City is a large place and, if you want to traverse it quickly, you'll want either a car or motorbike. You could, of course, always steal a ride, but, if you want a reliable vehicle that you call whenever you need it, you'll need to purchase one.

Fixers will occasionally offer you the chance to purchase either a car or motorbike as you play Cyberpunk 2077. To unlock these opportunities, you first need to reach a specific Street Cred level and, after you've done that, you need to visit a specific part of Night City, such as Westbrook.

Once you're there, you need to wait until the fixer calls you about the vehicle they'd like you to buy. It may take some time for this call to occur, so occupy yourself with whatever activities you choose until it does so.

After you've received the call, head to the location of the vehicle and, if you have enough Eddies, you can purchase it.

Don't worry if you don't have the money yet - the vehicle will happily sit there until you're ready to buy it.

Other ways to get cars and motorbikes in Cyberpunk 2077

Not every car or motorbike in Cyberpunk 2077 has a price tag attached to it and you'll be able to unlock a couple of vehicles from simply exploring the world or completing specific side jobs.

When it comes to unlocking vehicles through side jobs, be aware that your prior actions might have blocked access to a particular mission. If you send the body following The Heist mission to Viktor, for example, you won't be able to do the Heroes side job, which allows you to unlock the Nazaré motorbike.

Once you've unlocked or purchased a vehicle, it will be automatically added to your vehicle list and you'll be able to call upon it whenever you like. Calling upon your car will also fix any damage it might have received!

Stealing cars and motorbikes in Cyberpunk 2077

If you don't feel like purchasing a car or motorbike in Cyberpunk 2077, then you can always steal one.

The downside to this, however, is that you won't be able to call this vehicle whenever you need it. Instead, you'll have to eventually abandon it on a street corner in the knowledge that it will disappear forever - probably because someone else stole it.

Only purchased vehicles can be called upon at any time.

Still, if you're in need of a quick ride, don't mind losing a vehicle or simply want to try out something expensive, then stealing cars is for you.

It's possible to steal both parked and in-use cars, with the method on how to do so being different.

If you want to steal a parked car, then you'll need a certain level in the Technical Ability attribute, with this level being tied to the value of the car. This means that you'll need a high Technical Ability level to steal the more expensive parked cars in Night City.

Just make sure there aren't any police officers nearby when you commit the robbery or else you'll find yourself being chased down.

The Technical Ability attribute will change depending on the car.

When it comes to stealing in-use cars, however, you'll need to either steal it when the driver is waiting at a spot light or block their path with your own vehicle. After that you'll need a certain level in the Body attribute to pull the driver from the car and, again, this required level will depend on the value of the car.

The Brawl attribute will change depending on the type of car you're targeting.

You can, however, kill the driver by shooting at the window and, in the case of bulletproof cars, this may even force the driver to leave. (Even though they're, you know, in a bulletproof vehicle.)

Remove the body and it's yours!

Doing this will most likely attract the attention of the police, but, once you're in the vehicle, you should be able to outrun them.

Just keep driving until you loose the police.

Good luck and stay safe-ish in Night City!
