Battlefield Heroes hits 3m players mark

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, etc.

EA's told the world that Battlefield Heroes has been played by three million different people since launch this summer.

The free-to-play MMO-like shooter marched past the two million mark in late September.

To celebrate, EA and developer DICE have gone crazy and launched one new map. This is called Sunset Showdown and is based around controlling a church atop a hill. One side of the sunset-bathed island is dimly lit and the other is veiled in shadow - a perfect disguise for a tank.

EA reckons 50,000 new players join Battlefield Heroes every week, and that the entire community has logged over 1300 years in game-time already.

Battlefield Heroes is an ad-supported web-based multiplayer game, much like the core Battlefield games but more accessible, persistent, cartoony and customisable. Importantly, everyone can dress up, 10/10.
